Buying a bath

If you have a large bathroom then you are in the privileged positioned of having a wide range of baths to choose from. The advantage of a large bathroom is that you can opt to go for a freestanding bath which can sit away from walls for example or of course you can still go for the more traditional rectangular baths.
Rectangular baths generally come in 3 sizes, 1600mm, 1700mm and 1800mm in length. These baths are suitable for most average to small sized bathrooms and you can choose to either add panels to these baths or as is happening more and more, tile around your bath.
Another option for smaller bathrooms is a shower bath. This is where you install a shower above one end of the bath and use the bath as a shower as well. There are couple of different ways of doing this. First you can buy a normal bath - but make sure that at least one end is not sloping inwards (this is because when you are under the shower you do not want to be standing on a sloping end). To turn this into a shower bath, just add a glass shower screen on the shower end of bath and attached to the wall. The other way is to buy a shower bath. These are normally P-shaped allowing a bigger area at the shower end and have 2 glass screens which open up when you use as a bath and close to form a pod when you use as a shower.
